Is Reality TV Trying to Cater to Me?
Well, at least Bravo is!
Remember back to when people could and would say things like “I don’t watch reality TV” like it was just one thing?
In reality, what they really meant was “I don’t watch Big Brother.”
But today, there are so many shows of differing type, subject matter, venue, etc… that saying “I don’t watch reality TV” is like saying “I don’t read. When I drive I just guess on what to do based on the signs color and shape, because I refuse to read.”
Amidst all the crazy “I’m a celebrity has-been, get me back onto TV” nonsense, the one show that got me hooked was Bravo’s ‘Project Runway’.
And now, they’re upping the ante with two new shows debuting that seem to be right up my alley.
Sarah Jessica Parker will be back on our small screens with the reality competition ‘Work of Art’.
Mrs. Broderick hopes the show will move Americans to “start thinking about art, and realizing that they have opinions and start exploring art in their own communities.”
ART, SJP and NYC? I’m so there!
But I won’t have to wait until June to get my fix.
Bravo’s ‘9 by Design’ premieres this Tuesday.
A sort of ‘The Real Estate Housewives of New York’ show that follows a couple with seven kids as they flip high end abodes around downtown.
It’s as if the Waltons kept moving from mountain to mountain, coupled with a flip through the NY Times real estate section.
All I can say to Bravo is: “Get out of my head!”
