Former Soviet Figure Skater Arrested for DUI in USA

It’s like a Hall of Fame of Olympic drinkers!

Add 1 more to the growing list, as Sergei Ponomarenko joins fellow Olympic Gold Medalists Oksana Baiul, Viktor Petrenko and Alexei Yagudin on the drunk drivers rap sheet.

This coming on the heels of young Russian skater Andrei Lutai’s arrest earlier this season for stealing a car and joy riding drunk after competing poorly at Skate America.

Nothing takes the cake though, from former Soviet skater and World Champion Maxim Staviski who’s imbibing caused the death of one, and put another in a coma.

Does “Glasnost” actually mean “openness to public drunkenness”? What gives?
