Co-authorship and collaboration are always a little sticky, especially when involving close friends or romantically linked couples.

This very issue was at the forefront when SABR (the Society for American Baseball Research) chose to include Dorothy Jane Mills in their Hall of Fame as co-author of her husband’s famous scholarly works on the sport.

History has always dwelled on the cliche of the good woman behind every great man, but how many of these good women will someday become acknowledge as not having been behind, but beside their men?

Who knows, maybe it was Jackie who wrote “Profiles in Courage”?
