Apparently, Political Correctness is only an expression in English.
French speaking Canadian TV commentators are in hot water for their less-than-enlightened remarks during Johnny Weir’s Olympic performance.
Silly viewers who are under the delusion that the talking heads are there to comment on the sports being played, not on the dress, hair and perceived sexual orientation of the athletes, may want to switch channels.
I watched part of the 2002 Olympic Pairs skating event on French TV, and was shocked at what could pass for “humor”.
At one point they referred to the Chinese silver medalists Pang & Tong as “Ping and Pong”, and at a later time, ribbed that the US pair of Scott & Dulebohn looked like Barbie & Ken dolls.
So much for “Vive la difference!”
