NOH8 for The McCain Girls

Guess which Republican Stepford wife came out of her self-medicated stupor to support the NOH8 Campaign?

If the title of this post didn’t already give the answer away, she’s Cindy McCain, the wife of former US presidential candidate and Senator John McCain! This is monumental because the McCains are one of the most well-known Republican families in recent history, and her support signals a dramatic shift for the Republican party during the advent of the utterly ridiculous and laughable Prop 8 trial.

“Although we had worked with Meghan McCain before and were aware of her own position, we’d never really thought the cause might be something her mother would get behind, ” noted the NOH8 Campaign on their website.

0651“Aligning yourself with the platform of gay marriage as a Republican still tends to be very stigmatic, but Cindy McCain wanted to participate in the campaign to show people that party doesn’t matter – marriage equality isn’t a Republican issue any more than it is a Democratic issue. It’s about human rights, and everybody being treated equally in the eyes of the law that runs and protects this country.”

No word yet from John McCain about his position on gay marriage, but if his point of view strays from The McCain Girls, you can bet pills won’t be the only thing popped before bedtime in that household! Now if only other Republicans can come to their senses and realize that the “Moral High Horse” steered by the Christian Right is what’s truly and fundamentally destroying their party and not the Obamabots.
