Out of Business: iSites Kills iPhone & Android App Dreams
It’s a double-edged sword: pay someone to develop a snazzy smartphone app for your business or do it yourself by tapping into iSites, a new service launched today, that enables you to create custom iPhone or Android apps for only $25! Should budding smartphone developers like Yellow Peril Media stop counting our chickens before they hatch? That depends.
According to iSites, their instant app service integrates your social networks, measures traffic, monetizes content, and allows you to customize your brand with a flexible and interactive interface in real-time.
Basically, iSites takes your website’s RSS feed and data and quickly transform it into a full-fledged iPhone app (Android apps will be available in February). This includes social network feeds, such as Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, Posterous, and Tumblr.
After adding your feeds, you can customize the app’s look-and-feel — header image, colors and menu. Once you have that information, along with your app store information (icon and store banner), iSites will submit your app onto the iPhone or Android app stores with just the click of a button.
To see iSites in action, check out Ben Parr‘s test drive — along with some snazzy screenshots — at Mashable, The Social Media Guide (or Bible, depending on who you ask).
We’ll be sharing our insights on Isites after completing our own test drive later this week. Stay tuned to see if iSites will kill our app dreams too.
