Bethenny Getting Scary? – Take 5
OMG Bethenny’s Getting Maaaarrrriiieeddd!!!!!!
How awesome would it be if next week the show appeared with the title: Bethenny got Married??
So, we’re down to the actual big day itself, and each scene was accompanied by a “_ hours to go” label, and I really missed the CSI: SVU ‘chunk-chunk’ sound effect.
OK, first off let’s just get the confessions out of the way. Yes, I teared up during the exchange of vows. Yes, I know it’s only a TV show about complete strangers. Yes, it’s true I’ve never cried at a realtime wedding of people I actually know and love. Blah, blah, blah. I cried, and you know you did too, so stop fronting!
I was impressed with the intimacy Bravo was able to capture despite the whole thing being a “circus” filmed for TV. The step and repeat aspect was kept to a minimum considering that it was a celebrity wedding, and there seemed to be few celebrity guests thrown in for filler or pop. The few that were there I think are actual friends.
The only moment when I felt, or even remembered the cameras, was when they showed a few overhead shots of the nuptuals montaged in with the close-ups of the ceremony. If we’re getting close ups, then the cameras must have been fairly close, but the overhead shots were camera crew-free. So did they have to come back and do a lot of retakes? That must have been annoying.
But overall I felt it was conveyed with a lot of personal focus, with touching one-on-one scenes. There wasn’t a lot of showing off of the bling, and the wedding itself seemed rather tasteful and restrained. As Ramona to say: “Kadooze” to them for puling off a touching and personal event for millions of Peeping Toms.
Our little orphan Dorothy seems to have truly found her own family — once she stopped running around, running away, and realized that ‘There’s no place like home’.
So, will BGM? be a train ride, or a train wreck? Me thinks the answer lies within 5 basic questions. Let’s see how the third hour of the journey went.
- Will she end up Kate Gosselin? The bitch factor was put away for the night. I actually feel bad for all those negative bloggers who now have one less knife to throw. It was one of their old standards.
- Will she end up Edith Bunker? They both seemed so happy, and equally content with the tone of the event.
- Will she end up Rachel Zoe? As sweet as Mother Hoppy is, and as dizzying as Maid-of-honor Teri is, they all supported the plot, not dominated it.
- Will she end up Omarosa? Don’t we all invite a camera crew along on our honeymoon? LOL As for the wedding, it could have been so much worse. *cough* Dina Manzo *cough*
- Will she end up Rhoda? If getting all wrestled into your wedding dress with 5 assistants, and then realizing you have to pee but there’s no bathroom isn’t Rhoda, I don’t know what is. People will be talking about “the bucket” for a while. Comedy gold.
Meet me back here next week and, like our own private Seder, we’ll ask the 5 questions again.
