Flipping Off! – Take 9

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010. Filed under: kultuur

It’s not the finale yet, but Jeff sums up the whole show with this line: “It may not be important to you, but it’s important to me.”

Can I get an AMEN in here?!

Design-wise, next to nothing happens this week.

Jeff yet again fails to understand how or why any client can have a sentimental attachment to .. well, anything. It’s always risky tampering with an icon, and the Casa Vega crew are understandably nervous about change. I get it, even if Jeff doesn’t. We’ll see if the kitschy CV shrubs remain or not.

Yet another deadline seems to be heading south, and the kitchen cabinets at the breeders’ house may hold things up. This happens a lot in real life, but I’m not convinced watching it happen over and over again is good TV. But the stress does lay the groundwork for yet another of Jeff’s inappropriate tirades, so I guess it’s important.

Trace graduates, and surprisingly is heralded a “success” by the school for working with Jeff. Sainthood I could see, but alumni success story? I’m skeptical.

Now that he’s full-time committed, Trace is given more responsibility. This seems to mean whining and dining with crazy clients Jeff either can’t or won’t handle. In over his head, the poor kid places a 911 call to Jeff from the restroom, but once on the scene Jeff proves useless.

The client is drunk and acting inappropriately. He mauls Jenni and then bitch slaps Trace like he’s in a Bette Davis movie, while Jeff sits still and giggles nervously. Welcome to professional life, Trace!

So, on to the crazy, as that’s what this show is really about:

  • Jeff keeps his most sacred info all in one book. Not online, not in a computer file, not with multiple copies. His “Bible” — which he can’t live without — is one dodgy-looking book from the dime store.
  • Since this “Bible” is so crucial to Jeff’s life, he has his assistants take care of it for him.
  • So, surprise, surprise, it goes missing for a hot second and Jeff has one of his abuse-spewing meltdowns. *sigh* Is this all staged for “drama” or can someone really be this stupid and crazy?
  • Zoila wasn’t in this episode much, so I’ll just repeat her sage words from last week: “You’re not professional Jeffery. You need help.”
  • Durring the completely unnecessary verbal assault on poor Jenni, we were treated to this little pot-kettle-black gem: “You’re not my wife, or my girlfriend. You’re an employee!” Oh Jeff, you crack me up. Hypocrite much?
  • While Trace is being physically abused, and Jeff giggling like a schoolgirl, Jenni takes control and calms the out of control client. Yes, Jenni. The same Jenni who almost lost her job for losing a book.
  • Because, you know, what’s important to us, may not be important to Jeff Lewis.
