Rhode Island Celebrates 20th Century History

Whatever happened 5 minutes ago is now part of the past.

Thank God preservationists are waking up to this reality, as witnessed by websites like the newly launched RecentPastProvidence.

Thankfully, the movement to protect all landmarks, regardless of birthdate, has taken hold and more and more modern architecture is being spared the wrecking ball.

Particularly endangered under current tastes are so called brutalist buildings.

The witch trial Boston is currently putting its beautiful City Hall under is a travesty.

Perhaps organizations like Recent Past Providence are the future, so I raise my glass to them in honor of fighting the good fight.
